Saint Joseph's Scores in OT to Down Men's Soccer

EAST BOSTON, Mass. – Playing its second overtime game of the week, the Suffolk men's soccer team clashed with Saint Joseph's of Maine, Saturday afternoon at James A. Sartori Stadium at East Boston Memorial Park. The Rams and Monks battled, but it was the visitors that came away with a 1-0 victory with three minutes remaining in the extra session.

The Monks' junior Sean Baker scored the game's lone tally in the 93rd minute, his third of the season and first game-winner to lift Saint Joseph's to a 3-1 record in GNAC action this year and a 7-3-1 overall mark.

The setback was Suffolk's second overtime defeat on the week, dropping the Rams to 0-11- overall and 0-4-1 in conference play this season.

The Monks maintained offensive control for the majority of the contest as they outshot Suffolk by a 25-4 margin.

Senior Nicholas Chamma was solid in goal for Suffolk as he made 11 saves in the setback.

Suffolk squandered a golden opportunity to come away with their first victory of the season just four minutes into overtime as freshman Jordan Casey found a wide open Hamada Hazzoum in front of the Monks' goal. Hazzoum would launch a shot that would sail over the goalpost to keep the game going.

Sophomore Austin Bell led the Monks offensively as he posted five shots in the game

Suffolk will be back in action on Columbus Day as they travel to Johnson & Wales University for a 1:00pm showdown with the Wildcats.
