Men's Soccer Fall to Norwich 6-2 in GNAC Quarterfinals

The Suffolk University Men's Soccer team fell 6-2 at the hands of Norwich University in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) quarterfinals on Saturday in Northfield, Vermont.

Senior Juan Lazcano Bello (Madrid, Spain) scored a pair of goals for Suffolk as their 2014 season comes to a close with the setback in the league playoffs.

Suffolk jumped on the board first in the seventh minute of the game when Lazcanzo Bello scored an unassisted goal for the early edge.

Norwich would answer with two goals to close out the half to take a 2-1 lead heading into the break.

Sophomore Jacob Zimmerman (Litchfield, N.H.) would net the hat trick in the victory for the Cadets and also add an assist, while sophomore Alec Brigante (Colchester, Vt.) added two goals and a helper to lead the Cadets to victory. Norwich will now advance to Tuesday's quarterfinals against Lasell College who defeated Emmanuel, 5-3 on Saturday.

Lazcano Bello would score with 30 seconds remaining in the regulation to tally his sixth goal of the season. He finishes the 2014 season as Suffolk's leading point getter with 19 on the year as he also had seven assists in 15 games.

Suffolk concludes the 2014 season with a 5-10-2 overall record. They entered the eight team GNAC Tournament as the number seven seed with a 3-4-2 record in conference play.
