Men's Soccer Fall to Emerson, 2-0

The Emerson College Lions defeated the Suffolk University Men's Soccer team, 2-0 on Saturday evening at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville.

Sophomore Adam Halliday (Mulvern, Pa.) and senior Alex Sypsomos (Bangkok, Thailand) each scored, while sophomore Carter Bowers (Gorham, Me.) stopped all seven shots he faced in net on the evening as the Lions improve to a 2-1 mark on the season.

Halliday opened the scoring in the game's 24th minute as he headed in a bounce pass from 15 yards out that was set up by sophomore Jeremy Leder (Dix Hills, N.Y.).

Suffolk would come out strong in the second half as they put out four shots in the opening 20 minutes of the period but could not find the equalizing goal.

In the sixty-fifth minute of the contest a Suffolk turnover deep in their defensive zone would prove costly as Sypsomos managed to sneak out on a breakaway putting home his first tally of the season to give the Lions' some insurance.

Sophomore Nicholas Chamma (Rio de Janero, Brazil) stopped five of seven shots he faced in goal on the evening for Suffolk.

The loss drops the Rams to an 0-3 start on the 2013 campaign.

Emerson outshot Suffolk 16-8 in the contest including 9-4 in the second half.

Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon. Emerson travel to Newbury College, while Suffolk heads to Tufts University all in non-conference play.
