Men's Soccer Play to 1-1 Draw With Monks

The Suffolk University Men's Soccer team finished played to a 1-1 draw with the St. Joseph's College Monks on Wednesday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

Sophomore Djibril Niang (Dakar, Senegal) scored the Rams' lone goal of the day in the game's fifty-eighth minute as he coverted a feed from sophomore Eduardo Li (Curridabat, Costa Rica) for his third goal of the season.

The Monks got on the board first early in the contest as Jack LaFreniere scored in the ninth minute of the game for the 1-0 edge.

After the Rams evened the score, neither team could convert over the next fifty-one minutes of play as they ended in a tie.

The tie leaves the Rams with a 6-3-1 overall mark, while they moved to 4-2-1 in GNAC play. The Monks now have a 4-4-2 overall record, while they are 2-2-1 in conference play.

Freshman goalkeeper Nicholas Chamma (Rio de Janero, Brazil) stopped five of six shots he saw in 110 minutes of action in the contest.

St. Joseph's held a 16-7 advantage on shots in the game, including a 3-0 edge in the two extra periods.

Suffolk will play again this weekend as they take on Emerson College in more GNAC action beginning at 1:00pm on Saturday afternoon.
