Potter Strong In Net Again Despite Rams Loss

The Endicott College Gulls (6-6-3) extended their unbeaten streak to seven games as they topped the Suffolk University Rams (5-10-1) with a 2-0 score in non-conference Men's Soccer action on Monday evening.

Freshman Aaron Kanter (Medfield, Mass.) delivered his seventh shutout of the season stopping all 10 shots he faced as the Gulls have not allowed a goal since their October 1 matchup against Salve Regina University.

Endicott struck with their first goal in the game's 20th minute as senior Jared Rizzo (Peabody, Mass.) knocked in a loose ball for his fourth goal of the season.

That would be all Kantor would need as the freshman keeper extends his scoreless minutes streak to 487 minutes.

Suffolk had a chance to even the game with three minutes remaining as freshman Babacar Sembene (Dakar, Senegal) was awarded a penalty kick. Sembene decided to right and Kanter stayed with him pushing aside the shot. Freshman Daour Diagne (Dakar, Senegal) would collect the rebound but his shot went wide of the net ending the Rams scoring threat.

Endicott would seal the game after that play as freshman Alex Jorge (Billerica, Mass.) scored his team leading fifth goal of the season with a minute remaining as he was fed up field by sophomore Bobby Durben (Stow, Mass.) to end the Rams fate.

Freshman James Potter (North Kingston, R.I.) was solid again in net for the Rams making six saves on the evening. Potter has allowed two goals or less in 14 of the 16 Rams' contests this year as Suffolk now drops to 5-10-1 on the season.

Endicott will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Wentworth Institute of Technology in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) at 4:00pm. Suffolk will take on Tufts University on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference matchup beginning at 3:30pm.
