Flores Strikes Late for 2-1 Rams win

Somerville, Mass – Senior Luis Flores (Madrid, Spain) scored with one-minute remaining the the second overtime to give the Suffolk University Men's Soccer team (4-3 overall) a 2-1 victory over Daniel Webster College (2-2-1 overall) on Wednesday evening.

The goal was Flores' third of the season and first game-winner of 2010 as Suffolk has won three of their last four contests.

After both teams battled for 109 minutes, Flores took an Eagles giveaway and sniped the goal for the win for the Rams. Both teams had plenty of missed opportunities throughout the contest. Suffolk had five shots in both overtime periods and 20 in the game, while the Eagles had three shots in the extra frames for a game total of 15.

It took 58 minutes for the game's first goal as junior Alex Jackson (Kent, Ohio) put the Eagles up  scoring from 25 yards out on a free kick. Jackson shot a laser to the top corner of the goal for his team-leading third goal of the year.

Suffolk would answer twelve minutes later as freshman Dean Agen (Poland, N.Y.) took advantage of an Eagles' miscue and put home his fourth goal of the year.

Junior goalkeeper Jack DeJesus (Swampscott, Mass.) made seven saves for his third victory in the net for the Rams. Junior Joe Keene (Bristol, N.H.) made eight saves for the Eagles.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to take on Lesley University. Suffolk will travel to Mount Ida College on Sunday to take on the Mustangs at 1:00pm in GNAC action.
