Lloyd Scores Game Winning Goal

Freshman midfielder Danny Lloyd's (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) goal in the 76th minute lifted the Suffolk University men's soccer team (4-4 GNAC, 5-8 overall) to a 2-1 win over conference opponent Emmanuel College (1-4-2 GNAC, 3-9-2 overall) on Senior Night Wednesday at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, Mass.

Lloyd's pretty game-winner was his second goal of the match. Nick Celia (Hanson, MA) picked up the assist on the play after Lloyd faked left and went right to rip it by Emmanuel's Carlos Perez.

Lloyd's first goal of the game came in the 44th minute and gave the Rams a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Stephen Gaudet received the assist on the play.

Emmanuel's Gavin Molta tied the game at 1-1 in the 65th minute with an unassisted goal from point blank range.

The Rams out shot the Saints 9-6. Perez and Suffolk goalkeeper Alex Capousis (Annapolis, MD) combined for three saves on the afternoon. Perez finished with two saves, while Capousis' lone save came in the second half.

Five Suffolk seniors were honored as part of Senior Night in a pre-game ceremony led by Athletic Director James Nelson. Midfielder Christian Palacios (Lexington, MA), defender Eric Zettervall (Colchester, CT), defender Clayton Plummer (Cranston, RI), midfielder Alex Levitin (North Reading, MA) and defender Tomas Stocker (Buenos Aires, Argentina) were honored.

Suffolk closes out its regular season schedule with a match at Emerson Saturday at 12:30 pm.
