
EAST BOSTON – Suffolk men's hockey wrapped up its regular season home schedule in winning fashion as it took down Western New England, 2-1, Saturday at Louis E. Porrazzo memorial Skating Rink.
The win locked up first-round hosting rights for the Rams in the 2024 Conference of New England Tournament. The official bracket will be released following the conclusion of the regular season, which wraps up next weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
One goal was scored in each period. Suffolk scored the first two to take a lead it never let go of.
Daniel McKiernan struck first on the power play with 57 seconds left in the opening period with help from Josh Milsoand Nolan Leonard.
The Rams extended their advantage at the midway point of the middle period when Joe O'Brien found the back of the net. Scott McManus and Jake Grace aided in the goal that gave the blue-and-gold a 2-0 cushion.
The Golden Bears trimmed the deficit in half 3:23 into the third period when Gavin Mastrodonato chipped the puck past CJ Hapward.
WNE attempted to level the playing field from there, but luckily for Suffolk Hapward was flawless the rest of the way to preserve the Rams' victory.
NETMINDER NOTES
- Hapward had 25 saves in the victory.
- Logan Palmer registered 41 stops in the setback.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- McKiernan and O'Brien scored one goal each.
- Grace, Leonard, McManus and Milso had one assist apiece.
- Suffolk outshot Western New England, 43-26.
- The Rams went 1-for-4 on the power play and successfully skated off two penalities.
