HOW IT HAPPENED
The Nor'Easters knocked the first goal of the game away with 3:32 remaining in the opening period. Drew Olivieri won the face-off at the left circle inside Suffolk's zone. Dominic Murphy quickly picked the puck up and sniped a shot over CJ Hapward's glove side shoulder to put the Rams in a 1-0 hole at the first intermission.
Kevin O'Keefe doubled UNE's advantage with no help 2:31 into the middle period.
That two-goal gap remained as the teams headed to the locker room for the second time.
Suffolk got on the board 6:53 into the third period. Nick Liotino had the puck inside the left face-off dot in Suffolk's zone. He dished it ahead to Scott McManus at the Rams' blue line, who quickly found a zooming Jake Grace. Grace took the puck into the Nor'Easters terrioty and flicked a wrister into the back of the twine to make it 2-1.
UNE restored the two-goal margin on the power play at the midway point of the third frame and put away its fourth tally of the night for insurance with 7:17 remaining in regulation.
Kyle Pelletier had a chance to add to Suffolk's side of the board less than two minutes later, but the rookies' attempt hit the post and the 4-1 distance remained the rest of the way.
