Men’s Hockey Shutouts Nichols, 2-0

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Suffolk men's hockey scored two unanswered and CJ Hapward turned aside all 29 shots he faced to take down Nichols, 2-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Levy Rink Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk broke on the scoreboard with 1:49 remaining in regulation on the power play. Tyler Borys snuck behind Nichols' netminder Tyler Bost and tapped Nick Liotino's pass into the back of net. Ryan Webb had a hand in the game-opening goal.  

Midway through the third period Ralph Berry skated through Bison defender after Bison defender for a quick back handed wrist shot to extend the Rams' edge to two.   

NETMINDER NOTES

  • Hapwell recorded the shutout with a 29-save effort. 
  • Bost had 22 saves to his credit. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Borys and Berry were responsible for the Rams goals. 
  • Akermark, Dempsey, Liotino and Webb handed out one assist each. 
  • Nichols outshot Suffolk, 29-24. 
  • The Bison won the face-off battle, 34-30. 
  • Suffolk went 1-for-7 on the power play and skated off six penalty kills.

  • Suffolk snapped a two-game skid versus Nichols.
