BIDDEFORD, Maine – Ryan Webb of the Suffolk men's hockey team was tabbed Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week after helping the Rams begin second semester in the win column, with a 4-2 decision over Franklin Pierce Saturday, the league office announced Monday.
Webb, a freshman forward from Rockport, Massachusetts, registered two points in the semester-opening victory, Suffolk's second of the season. He assisted on Phil Decresce's power play goal, that pushed the blue-and-gold in front late in the second period before he sealed the win with an empty net marker with 44 seconds remaining.
The weekly accolade is Webb's second of the season as he was named the league's best rookie over a seven-day stretch Nov. 14. In addition to Webb's awards, Cal Wilcox has also been recognized by the conference this season for a standout performance when the senior was acknowledged as Goaltender of the Week Dec. 12.
Suffolk looks to take its winning momentum into Tuesday, Jan. 10's tilt at Salem State. Puck drop between the Rams and Vikings is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
