UNE Bests Men’s Hockey, 4-1

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Will MacNeil produced his first collegiate goal to put the Rams on the board, however, Suffolk men's hockey fell in a four-goal hole it could climb all the way out to slip in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the University of New England, 4-1, at Harold Alfond Forum Friday night.

SCORE: Suffolk 1 | University of New England 4
RECORDS: Suffolk (1-6-1, 1-6-0 CCC) | University of New England (5-3-0, 5-2-0 CCC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The University of New England matched its offensive output with the number of the period over the first two stanzas to put the Rams in a 3-0 hole when the third frame start.

The Nor'Easters' first tally came late in the first frame, with 13 seconds remaining before the intermission to be exact, when Jared Christy put his first goal of the night away.

Christy carried his own momentum into the second as he scored his second on the power play 2:53 into the middle period to extend the edge to a pair. Garrett Devein produced a power play goal of his own at the 14:18 mark to turn it into a three-goal game.

UNE's scoring did slow down a touch in the third as the host were unable to continue its pattern of putting the same number of pucks away as the period number. The Nor'Easters did net another one though, again on the power play, as Juraj Elias put a man-up goal at the midway point of the third to push the margin to 4-0.

The Rams persistence paid off as MacNeil eliminated the shutout with less than two minutes left in regulation. MacNeil received a pass inside the right face-off dot from Nick Lachaine, who won the puck in a battle on the boards. MacNeil shot past an UNE defender and the puck zoom by Billy Girad's stick side to put the blue-and-gold on the board.

The goal came too late for Suffolk as there was not enough time to make up the remaining ground and the Nor'Easters skated away with the win.
