HOW IT HAPPENED
The Colonels hopped out to a three-goal cushion in the first period, starting with back-to-back goals from Timmy Kent less than three minutes apart. From there, Curry and its offense never looked back. Eetu Selanne tacked on the opening period's third goal, sending both teams to the locker room with Curry leading 3-0.
Suffolk once again was almost held scoreless in the second frame, but after four consecutive goals from the host team, Troy Ladka found the back of the net on a shot from the slot, with help from John Garrity and Peter Nugent, to break the shutout bid at the 18:50 mark.
Trailing by six in the final stanza, the Rams scored the lone goal of the period, when Garrity notched his second point of the day, as he buried a give-and-go attempt set up in part by Nugent's second assist of the contest.
