BOSTON – The Suffolk men's hockey team pulls the curtain back on its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) campaign this weekend in a home-and-home series with Wentworth. The Rams host the Leopards Friday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. at Emmons Horrigan Memorial Skating Rink before traveling to Allied Veterans Memorial Rink Saturday, Nov. 6 for a 5 p.m. puck drop.

SUFFOLK ATHLETICS 2021-22 FAN POLICY
Suffolk University Athletics, following guidance from the University's health and safety protocols, Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), Centers for Disease Control and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, plans to allow fans to attend home athletic contests during the 2021-22 academic and athletic year.

Fans, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, can attend games. They must be masked the entire time they are on campus, pursuant to institutional policy, and complete a health screening form at the security desk of each building upon arrival. This policy applies to home contests played on campus at the Ridgeway Building's Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court, as well as the Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink and the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink.

For outdoor outings, specifically at East Boston Memorial Park, fans are asked to respect COVID safety protocols. At this time, masks will not be mandated for fans no matter vaccinated status at outdoor venues.

LAST TIME OUT
Suffolk men's hockey was shutout in its 2021-22 debut as New England College put away a pair of even strength and special team goals, respectively, in a 4-0 decision Friday night at Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Suffolk sits 0-1-0 on the year after falling to New England College, 4-0, in its 2021-22 opener Oct. 21.

The Rams were unable to find the back of the net in their first outing of the year. The blue-and-gold managed to take 20 shots in game one though powered by Olle Akermark's three tries. Six different student-athlete sticks had a pair of attempts in the first outing also. 

Jarret Bovarnick defended the net against the Pilgrims. He stopped 35 of the 39 shots he faced. Cal Wilcox and Casen Janko may receive the nod this weekend. 

LEOPARDS LOOK
Wentworth split its opening weekend that sent the Leopards up to upstate New York. WIT fell in its game one, 4-2, at Castleton, before shutting out Skidmore, 2-0, to hold a 1-1-0 record. 

Eight different players produced a point last weekend. Kevin Obssuth's three leads the way with all the junior forward's points coming off assists. Joey O'Leary is second on the squad with two points with an evenly split stat line of one goal and one handout. Josh Faussett, Kasey O'Brien and Chris Tamer each lit the lamp once. 

The Leopards used two different set of gloves in Connor Carbo (4.09 GAA, .789 save %) and Will Oliver (0.00 GAA, 1.000 save %).

INSIDE THE SERIES

• The Suffolk, Wentworth rivalry is one of the oldest for the Rams, dating back to 1992.
• The Rams trail the all-time series, 13-23-1.
• Suffolk and Wentworth will meet for the first time since Dec. 9, 2017 when the Rams defeated the Leopards, 5-2, in Charlestown.
• Despite the overall record, the blue-and-gold is 3-1-0 in the last four battles, all of which came in CCC play.
• Suffolk sits 8-17-1 against Wentworth under Chris Glionna's guidance.
• There has been five shutouts in the all-time series, four of which have come in the Glionna era (2-2-0), which dates back to the 2004-05 campaign.
• Suffolk is 2-3-0 when a team is kept of the scoreboard.
• Three cleansheets have come on the Rams' home ice (1-2-0), while the other two came at WIT's barn (1-1-0).
• Suffolk and Wentworth have needed extra time to decide a winner six times, five with Glionna on the bench.
• The Rams are 2-2-2 when playing in OT against the Leopards, 1-2-1 under Glionna.
• The blue-and-gold is 0-1-1 when playing in overtime as the home team and 2-1-1 in OT as the away team versus Leopards.

CCC OPENERS

• Suffolk is back in the CCC after a three-year hiatus.
• The Rams were a part of the inaugural CCC campaign in 2016-17 and remained in the league through the 2017-18 season.
• The blue-and-gold has yet to capture a CCC debut.
• The Rams are 0-2-0 in their first CCC contest of the year.
• Both of Suffolk's CCC openers have come on the Rams' home ice at Horrigan Rink.
• The blue-and-gold has faced Becker (L, 3-1) and Nichols (L, 3-0) in its first CCC contest of a campaign. 

LOOKING AHEAD
Next weekend will feature a home-and-home series with Curry. Suffolk entertains the Colonels Friday, Nov. 12, before a Saturday, Nov. 13 showdown on the road. Both contests have a 7 p.m. start time.
