Bishop Named NEHC Rookie of the Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Suffolk men's hockey's Henry Bishop garnered NEHC Rookie of the Week honors after handing out four assists in a 1-1 week for the Rams, the league office announced Monday afternoon. Bishop shares the honor with Babson's Joe Petruzzella.

Bishop, a rookie defenseman, opened the week with a helper on Suffolk's lone-goal against No. 4 Norwich. The Montreal, Quebec native aided to his classmates score in the middle of the second period to help slice the gap down to one against the Cadets, 2-1, a score that stood in the visitors favor at the end of regulation.

The next night, Bishop had a career-outing setting-up three scorers to help Suffolk secure its first NEHC victory of the year, an 8-4 triumph over Castleton. He assisted on the Rams' first goal of the night and what would be the game-winner. The three-assist effort is a career-best for the freshman in helpers and points, respectively.

Bishop is the second Suffolk skater to be recognized with a weekly honor this season as Nathan Pickett was named the best rookie over a seven day stretch November 4. The nod is the first of Bishop's career.

Bishop and Suffolk are back in action this weekend as they continue the homestand against No. 6 Hobart and Skidmore. The Statesmen stop by Friday, Jan. 17 at 7 p.m., with the Thoroughbreds set to visit Saturday, Jan. 18 at 5 p.m.
