MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Nathan Pickett of the Suffolk men's hockey team garnered New England Hockey Conference Rookie of the Week status after defending the net for the Rams' in the season-opening win at Franklin Pierce, the league office announced Monday afternoon.  

Pickett, a freshman from Auburn, Massachusetts, earned the accolade, behind a 48-save effort in the 3-2 triumph over the Ravens in his collegiate debut. He is the first Rams' first-year to be recognized by the NEHC as the best rookie over a seven-day stretch since Suffolk joined the conference ranks a year ago.  

Pickett and the Rams remain on the road this weekend as they trek to up-state New York to open their league slate at Skidmore Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m., before visiting No. 6 Hobart the following day, Saturday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m.
