BOSTON – The Suffolk men's hockey team closes non-conference action Saturday, Jan. 13 with a trip to Southern New Hampshire University. Puck drop at the Ice Den is set for 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Sophomore Alex Lester put away the game-winner just 22 seconds into overtime to lift Franklin Pierce over the Suffolk men's hockey team in non-conference play Saturday night in a frigid Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Memorial Rink.

RAMS RUNDOWN
Each of Suffolk's contests in the New Year have needed extra time, but the Rams did not come out on the winning side of either – tying Salem State (2-2) and losing to Franklin Pierce (4-3) – to dip to 6-7-2 on the season. 

The underclassmen of Brian Brooks and Matt Bucher have been main ingredients to Suffolk's 41-goal offense. The duo sports own identical stat lines of five goals and seven handouts for a team-best 12 points apiece. Junior Mikhail Bryan and freshman Joseph Mortillaro each have nine points. Bryan's are off five strikes and four assists, while Mortillaro has a team-best seven goals and a pair of setups. 

Michael Levine is the Rams' go-to goalie with the junior bringing in a 2.68 GAA and a.928 save percentage in over 740 minutes of action in between the pipes.

PENMEN PICTURE
SNHU opened the New Year with a 5-4 victory over Becker Tuesday to improve to 5-3-2 on the year. 

A pair of Penmen have recorded over double figures in points thus far this season in Brett Strawn (2g, 10a)  and Chris Moquin (7g, 3a). Jared Goudreau (2g, 6a) and Kyle Valliere (4g, 4a) have each contributed eight points to SNHU's offensive unit. 

In net, Ryan Slatky has seen the majority of action. The senior goalie sports a 2.62 GAA and a .913 save percentage with a 4-3-2 ledger in between the pipes for SNHU.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Suffolk and SNHU have met every year since 2001. The Rams picked up a 3-2 victory over the Penmen to take home the crown of the 2017 Manchester PAL/Stovepipe Tournament thanks to Joseph Mortillaro's game-winner with just 13 seconds left in regulation earlier this season. That victory trimmed SNHU's all-time series lead to 10-8-3.

WE MEET AGAIN
Joseph Mortillaro found the back of the net with 13 seconds remaining in regulation to snap a two-all tie and propel the Suffolk men's hockey team past SNHU, 3-2, in the championship game of the 2017 Manchester PAL/Stovepipe Tournament Nov. 26.
