BIDDEFORD, Maine – The Suffolk men's hockey team saw its win streak come end Friday night as the Rams fell to the University of New England, 7-2, at the Harold Alfond Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first period was all about special teams on both sides as Suffolk played with at least one man down for three times for nearly eight minutes and went on the man-up opportunity once. The Rams successful killed a 5-on-3, but the Nor'easters struck with 33 seconds left on a 5-on-4 power play to gain an early 1-0 lead. 

UNE stretch its lead to a pair of goals 3:43 minutes later, this time scoring a shorthanded goal. Suffolk 's two-goal deficit did not last long as the visitors put away a power play goal of their own with Connor Henry scoring on the man-up opportunity to cut the hosts lead in half at the midway point of the first frame. 

The Rams found themselves in a two-goal hole once again five minutes into the second period. Suffolk kept things interesting as it put away its second power play goal of the night to trim the margin to one once again with 11:27 to play in the second stanza. The blue-and-god had a chance to level the playing field with a minute remaining as Joseph Mortillaro went had a one-on-one chance with Ben Churchfield. The Nor'easters freshman netminder made his toughest save of the night and followed with another, turning aside Gavin O'Neill's attempt to keep the hosts in front 3-2 after two full periods of play.   

Suffolk stormed out of the locker room and put three shots on net, but Churchfield kept the Rams quiet. In a penalty filled contest, the Nor'easters gained a 4-2 advantage as Andrew Slotnick scored on a delayed penalty with an extra skater just 4:04 into the third period. 

From there, the Rams had to play catch up, but the Nor'easters turned up the volume, scoring a trio of goals including a pair in a 16-second span to skate away with the 7-2 victory. 

GOALS

• With the Nor'easters on the man-up advantage, Micheal Levine faced numerous shots over a short span. The junior turned aside the first five, but the sixth, Slotnick's first attempt of the day, made its way over the goal line to break open the scoring. Derek Mecrones and Ryan Burr had hands in Slotnick's first goal of the year.
• Ryan Bloom kept his point streak intact running it to seven straight games as he put away a shorthanded goal at 7:47. From the corner, Brady Fleurent passed to Bloom in the slot and the sophomore forward flipped the puck past Levine to make it a 2-0 UNE contest.
• Connor Henry chipped in the puck right in front on the power play after the Rams worked the Nor'easters defense. Bucher and Mikhail Bryan each had handouts on the marker.
• With less than five minutes removed from the clock in the second, the Nor'easters offensive attacked fired. Similar to how UNE scored its first marker of the night, they capitalized on their sixth consecutive shot in the second Tyler Seltenreich lifted Burr's blocked shot top shelf to give the Nor'easters a 3-1 cushion. Burr picked up his second assist of the night on Seltnereich's team-leading eighth goal of the season with Bloom also recording an assist on the goal.   
• Suffolk capitalized on its second power play of the night as Matt Bucher sniped a shot from the right faceoff circle to cut the margin to one goal, 3-2, at the 8:34 minute mark in the second. Connor Henry and Brian Brooks each set up the rookies fourth goal of the year. 

KEEPING UP WITH THE KEEPERS

• Levine made 34 saves in the setback, giving up six strikes on the night.
• Will Ribas came on in relief and registered five saves.
• Churchfield racked up 32 saves in the victory. 

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

• Connor Henry and Bucher each had two-point nights with the junior and freshman each tallying one goal and one assist.
• Brooks and Bryan notched one assist each.   

NOTEWORTHY

• Henry notched a point in his second consecutive contest and produced his first multi-point game of the season and second of his collegiate career.
• Bucher registered his third multi-point game of his collegiate career.
• Brooks ran his point streak to six straight games. Through the stretch, the sophomore has notched eight points on four goals and four helpers.
