Jenkins, Henry to Lead Men’s Hockey as Captains in 2017-18

BOSTON – On the verge of the 2017-18 season opener, head coach Chris Glionna announced that Jack Jenkins and Sean Henry will rep the "C" on their jersey this season as the senior and junior are set to lead the Rams as co-captains.

The two skaters continue a long tradition of Suffolk Hockey captains dating back to the program's first season of play in 1980-81 when James Tropsa led the blue-and-gold. Counting the new additions, over 60 Rams have worn a letter at Suffolk University in the program's 38-year history.

A native of Billerica, Massachusetts, Jenkins returns to his captain post after guiding the Rams a year ago. He enters his final campaign in Boston after seeing action in 25 games last season and compiling a stat line of three goals and five helpers for eight points. Throughout his career, Jenkins has contributed 23 points on nine markers and 14 helpers through 73 games and recorded a plus seven efficiency rating.

A mainstay on the Rams' blue line in 2016-17, Henry appeared in 20 games for the Rams last season and recorded career-highs in goals (3), assists (5) and points (8). The Trumbull, Connecticut, native's eight points were the highest of Suffolk's defensemen.

Suffolk began preparations for the upcoming 2017-18 season last Saturday with an impressive 5-2 exhibition win over Framingham State. The Rams use Friday night's exhibition outing against Post (7 p.m.) to serve as the final teaser before the puck officially drops on the 2017-18 campaign Saturday, Oct. 28 when Suffolk welcomes Assumption to Emmons Horrigan O'Neil Rink. Puck drop in Charlestown is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
