Selep Named ECAC Northeast Player of the Week for Second Time in 2015-16

BOSTON – Justin Selep of the Suffolk hockey team earned his second ECAC Northeast Hockey award of the season by being named the player of the week, the league announced Monday afternoon. This is Selep's second ECAC Player of the Week award this season.

After nearly a month away from action, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native, started second semester with the best games of his career at Franklin Pierce. Selep totaled four points, off a career-first hat trick and one assist, to record a new career best and propel the Rams to a 5-3 win over the Ravens. Three of his points came in the final period in which Suffolk scored three times, matching its highest scoring period of the season.

The four-point day moved Selep up to No. 1 in the ECAC Northeast in goals (9), points (18), game-winning goals (3) and hat tricks (1) and No. 5 in assists (9).

The junior's consistent play this season has the Rams in second place in the ECAC northeast with a 4-1-2 mark against conference foes and sit 8-3-2 overall.

Selep and the Rams are back in action Tuesday, Jan. 12 when they visit Tufts. Puck drop between Suffolk and the Jumbos is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
