Hockey Falls Short To Ravens, 4-3
Junior Tim Sullivan (Rye, N.H.) netted a pair of goals, including the go-ahead tally 5:36 into the final period, to lift Franklin Pierce to a 4-3 non-league college ice hockey victory over Suffolk Saturday afternoon at Steriti Rink.

The visiting Ravens (3-11-1) overcame a 1-0 first period deficit to take a 2-1 advantage on markers by Sullivan and freshman Aaron Blaker (Rolling Meadows, Ill.) that came 3:03 apart in the middle stanza, but the host Rams (5-9-1) evened matters with 35 seconds to play in the second frame on freshman Stanton Turner's (San Francisco, Calif.) tally that came just two seconds after a Suffolk power play ended.  Sullivan provided the go-ahead goal for Franklin Pierce early in the final period, and senior Teddy Walsh (Quincy, Mass.) collected what proved to be the game-winning marker for the Ravens with 5:57 to play in the contest, as freshman Simon Leahy's (Milwaukee, Wis.) goal with 20 seconds remaining enabled the hosts to creep back to within one but get no closer.

Blaker finished with a goal and an assist in the triumph for Franklin Pierce, which also received a pair of assists from senior Tyler Cornele (Cape Coral, Fla.) as well as single helpers off the sticks of seniors Roman Malyshev (Moscow, Russia) and Sean Dunn (Quincy, Mass.), junior Brendan FitzPatrick (Winthrop, Mass.) and freshmen Shane Dowd (Holden, Mass.) and Brett Oldaker (Canonsburg, Pa.).  Sophomore Steve Colomey (Norwood, Mass.), who gave Suffolk the early edge with a power play goal that came with six seconds remaining in the opening period, finished with two points in the setback for the Rams, who received a pair of assists each from junior Tim Sprague (Plymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Carmen Mastrangelo (Wellington, Fla.) as well as a single helper from senior Charlie McGinnis (Hanover, Mass.).

Sophomore Kyle Moran (Marshfield, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Franklin Pierce with a 25-save effort, while freshman Kevin Venturoso (Franklin, Mass.) made 26 stops in the setback for Suffolk as the Ravens outshot the Rams by a 30-28 margin for the contest and avenged a 4-1 defeat suffered in the first meeting of the season between the two squads back on December 7th.

Suffolk heads to Milton, Mass. next Saturday afternoon to take on Curry in an ECAC Northeast outing that faces off at 4:40 p.m., while Franklin Pierce travels to Hooksett, N.H. on Tuesday evening to take on Southern New Hampshire in a Northeast-10 Conference clash that faces off at 7:30 p.m.
