Hockey Suffers 6-2 Setback to SUNY Canton
Senior Cory Giczewski(Fountain Valley, Calif.) netted a pair of goals and two assists for four points to lead SUNY-Canton to a 6-2 non-league college ice hockey victory over Suffolk Saturday afternoon at Steriti Rink.

The visiting Kangaroos (3-11-1) jumped out to a 2-0 lead just 5:11 into the contest on a pair of power play tallies off the sticks of junior Dave Schneider(Indianapolis, Ind.) and sophomore Kristian Leach(Indianapolis, Ind.), but the host Rams (5-8-1) closed back to within one just 1:04 later on a power play marker from junior Dan Mazzei(Tewksbury, Mass.) and evened matters midway through the middle stanza on freshman Stanton Turner's (San Francisco, Calif.) goal.  Junior Lee Melde(Proctor, Minn.) gave SUNY-Canton the lead for good with 6:11 remaining in the second period, and the visitors struck for three third period tallies, including a pair from Giczewski, to ice their triumph.

Melde and junior Austin Root(Manhattan Beach, Calif.) each collected a goal and assist in the win for the Kangaroos, who also received three assists from junior J.R. Lafferty(Williamstown, N.J.) and single helpers off the sticks of junior Justin Brooks(Aurora, Ont.) and freshman Zach Paisley(Yonkers, N.Y.).  Junior Morgan Barr(Almonte, Ont.) picked up the victory between the pipes with a 38-save effort for SUNY-Canton, including 14 stops in both the first and third periods of action.   Senior Jon Stauffer(Lansdale, Pa.), along with sophomores Carmen Mastrangelo(Wellington, Fla.) and Steve Colomey(Norwood, Mass.), notched assists in the setback for the Rams, who received 29 saves in goal from junior Brett Roman(Rock Tavern, N.Y.).  Suffolk outshot the Kangaroos by a 40-35 margin for the afternoon in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
