Drago Knocks Home Game Winner In OT


Senior Steve Drago (Waltham, Mass.) scored one minute into the overtime period to give the Suffolk University Hockey team a 2-1 victory over Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday evening on the road.

Drago knocked in a rebound that was initially shot by sophomore Andrew Ball (Brick, N.J.) to lift to Rams to a 2-0 record to start the season.

Sophomore goaltender Brett Roman (Rock Tavern, N.Y.) made 16 saves in the game for the Rams.

Trailing 1-0 with three and a half minutes in regulation, sophomore Scott Matthieu (Taunton, Mass.) evened the game at 1-1 as junior Wes Bonnell (Flenton, Del.) set him up with the tying goal.

The Ravens got on the board first as they scored in the second period as senior Roscoe Sweeney (Falmouth, Mass.) scored his second goal of the year at 6:10.

Senior Pat Dunn (Quincy, Mass.) made 31 saves in goal for Franklin Pierce, who fall to 1-1 on the season.

The goal was the second of the season for Drago and his first career game winning goal.

Sophomore Tim Sprague (Plymouth, Mass.) led all players with four shots in the game, as the Rams outshot the Ravens 33-17 in the game.

Suffolk will be back in action on Saturday evening as they open up their ECAC Northeast schedule with a conference game at Johnson & Wales University starting at 7:45pm.
