Hockey Team Wear Pink Jerseys for Breat Cancer Awareness

The Suffolk University Hockey team donned pink jerseys for their ECAC Northeast contest against Nichols College on Saturday, February 12 to help raise breast cancer awareness. The Rams switched over from their traditional colors of navy and gold and wore specially made game sweaters that featured symbolic pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness, as well as pink game socks.

The idea for the initiative was brought up by the players on the Suffolk Hockey team and proposed to Head Coach Chris Glionna."Our guys did a great job planning and coordinating this event. It was very special to see our student-athletes come together to promote a very special cause. We feel very honored as a program to be able to do something like this that can help others benefit and raise awareness for this very special cause while being able to use hockey as a tool to promote it. I am proud of my players for taking the initiative in this event," said Glionna.

The Suffolk Hockey team plans to use the money that was donated at Saturday's game and donate it to local cancer charities.

For more information on making a donation, please contact Coach Chris Glionna (cglionna@suffolk.edu).

The jerseys were also good luck as the Rams defeated Nichols 3-1 to stay alive in the ECAC Northeast Playoff hunt.
