McGinnis' OT Goal Propels Rams to 3-2 Win

Freshman Charlie McGinnis (Hanover, Mass.) netted the game-winner just thirty seconds into the overtime period to give the Suffolk University Rams (6-11, 2-5 ECAC Northeast) a 3-2 victory over the Becker College Hawks (6-10-2, 3-3-2 ECAC Northeast) on Wednesday evening.

McGinnis collected a rebound from sophomore Andrew Flynn (Stamford, Conn.) to put home his second goal of the season, and first game-winner.

Suffolk jumped out to a 2-0 lead over the first two periods of action. Freshman Chris Boyd (Milford, Mass.) got the scoring started for the Rams netting his first collegiate goal thirteen minutes into the contest as he took feeds from senior Zach Barron (St. Louis, Mo.) and junior J.A. Wein (Barnegat, N.J.) on a Rams power-play.

Barron would give the Rams a two goal edge as the Rams took advantage of the extra man again with just over five and a half minutes to go in the second as Boyd and freshman Jon Stauffer (Landsdale, Pa.) set him up.

The Hawks would answer with two goals of their own in the third period to even the score. Korby Anderson (Owantonna, Minn.) scored his tenth goal of the season to cut the deficit in half for Becker on a power-play. With less than three minutes remaining Ron Paiva (Rehoboth, Mass.) would even the score with his fourth goal of the season scoring on a rebound by Alex Young (Lynnfield, Mass.).

Senior Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) made 35 saves in goal for the Rams. Rose stopped all 16 shots in a first period that saw the Rams get outshot by their opponents 16-6. Becker held a 37-27 advantage in shots for the game.

Suffolk will be back in action on Sunday as they travel to Johnson & Wales University to take on the Wildcats in ECAC Northeast action at 3:00pm.
