Hockey Falls to Curry 6-3

Curry College defeated ECAC Northeast opponent Suffolk University 6-3, in men's ice hockey action on Thursday night in Milton, Mass.  The Colonels improve to 3-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the ECAC Northeast while the Rams fall to 4-6-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the ECAC Northeast,.

The first period didn't see much action until sophomore Connor Hendry (Calgary, Alberta) gave the Colonels their first lead of the game at 13:53.  Hendry shot in the upper right hand corner of the net off assists from sophomore Casey Brugman (Winthrop, MA) and senior Ray Nicks (Surrey, BC).  The Colonels got one more before the end of the period when junior Payden Benning (Estevan, SK) took a slap shot past Suffolk's senior goaltender Jeff Rose (Collinsville, CT).  Juniors Christopher Atkinson(Sparta, NJ) and Steven Mohler (Anaheim, CA) were credited with the assists. 

Curry scored two more in the second period before Suffolk would get their first.  Just six minutes into the period Atkinson scored on a power-play goal from sophomore Brett Kaneshiro (Laguna Niguel, CA) and freshman Joshua Pineiro (Burbank, CA).  Junior Michael Guzzo (Pickney, MI) scored his first goal of the game on another man-up situation when he collected a loose puck in front of the net.  Assists came from Atkinson and Benning.  Just 16 seconds later the Rams posted their first score when senior Ryan Fitzpatrick (Mission Viejo, CA) took a shot from the blue line that slid past the Colonels sophomore goaltender Travis Owens (Burbank, CA).  Junior J.A. Wein (Barnegat, NJ) and freshman Charlie McGinnis (Hanover, MA) each got an assist.  Both teams would add on one more goal before the end of the period.  Sophomore George Isham (Lake Bluff, IL) scored for the Colonels off an assist from freshman Philip Arnone (Litchfield, NH).  Suffolk's goal came from sophomore Jason Molle (Stoneham, MA) off an assist from freshman James Chamness (Collegeville, PA). 

The Colonels scored their sixth and final goal of the game in the third period when Brugman got his second of the night.  The Rams final goal game came with just under five minutes left in regulation from senior Dan Dandreo (Swampscott, MA).  

Curry outshot Suffolk 51-21.  They also went 2-4 on power-plays while Suffolk went 0-3.

Rose made 45 total saves in net for the Rams and Owens made 21 saves in net for the Colonels to remain undefeated with a 3-0-1 record.

Curry's next game is on Saturday, December 4 at 4:00 p.m. at Nichols College.  Suffolk hosts Wentworth on Sunday, December 5 for a 5:00 p.m. game start.
