The Suffolk University Men's Hockey team (4-3 overall) rolled to an 8-1 victory over Southern New Hampshire University (1-4 overall) on Tuesday evening. 12 Rams skaters had a point in the contest as Suffolk picks up their fourth win on the season.
Freshman James Chamness (Collegeville, Pa.) scored two third period goals as the Rams broke the game open in the final frame scoring four times. Senior Tom Coulstring (Whitman, Mass.) finished the game with three points, scoring a goal and adding three assists, while sophomore Jason Molle (Stoneham, Mass.) and freshman Max Barron (St. Louis, Mo.) each collected three assists on the evening.
Coulstring got the Rams on the board twelve minutes into the contest scoring his first goal of the season taking a feed from freshman David Seidell (Greenwich, Conn.) on Suffolk's lone goal of the first period. Sophomore Matt Robertson (Whitman, Mass.) put the Rams up 2-0 early in the second period before senior Paul Weisser (Longmeadow, Mass.) struck shorthanded at the ten minute mark for his first goal of the season. Sophomore Marko Molano (Miami, Fla.) tallied the first goal of his collegiate career with less than five minutes remaining in the second to give the Rams the 4-0 edge after two periods of play.
Chamness tallied the first of his two goals just twenty-three seconds in the third period as he took a feed from Molle for the first goal of his career in a Rams uniform. Chamness would strike again seven minutes later.
Weisser scored his second goal of the game, again on special teams, this time with the one man advantage scoring Suffolk's lone power-play goal of the game. Junior Joe Greene (Weymouth, Mass.) added a goal late in the third period.
Senior goaltender Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) stopped 26 shots for his fourth win of the season, while freshman Cam Kelley (Brighton, Mass.) made three saves in the final seven minutes of play as he saw his first action of 2010-11.
Suffolk will be back in action this weekend as they head north to Colby College for a tournament as the Rams will face Colby on Saturday at 12:00pm and then take on Bowdoin College on Sunday at noon as well.
