Rose, Rams Pick Up First Win of Season

Marlboro, Mass. – Senior goaltender Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) posted a 21 save shutout as Suffolk University defeated Stonehill College 1-0 at the New England Sports Center to take home the consolation trophy at the Becker College Ice Breaker hockey tournament.

Suffolk University (2-1) tilted the scoreboard just 3:04 into the first period, when senior Dan Dandreo's (Swampscott, Mass.) shot found the back of the net behind Stonehill's (0-2) netminder Derek Chapdelaine (Granby, Mass.) for the eventual game winner to make it a 1-0 game. Rams forward Marko Molano (Miami, Fla.) had an assist on the goal.

Both goaltenders made sensational saves in the third period to keep the game close. Rose preserved the lead when he shut down freshman Garrett Lessard (East Sandwich, Mass.) who had broke in two on one. Chapdelaine denied Suffolk's Max Barron (St. Louis, MO) who was trying to finish a give an go to goal.

Rose and Stonhill's Angelo Todesca were both named to the All-Tournament Team.

Suffolk will be play their home opener at Walter Brown Arena this Wednesday as they take on Framingham State College at 7:00pm.
