Johnson & Wales Stop Suffolk, 4-2

BOSTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Jeremiah Ketts (Foristell, Mo.) netted a pair of second period goals to lift Johnson & Wales to a 4-2 ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Suffolk Saturday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena.

Ketts tallied twice in a 1:41 span early in the middle stanza to enable the visiting Wildcats (7-12, 4-4 ECAC Northeast) to overcome a 2-1 deficit and take the lead for good, as freshman Joshua Kaebel's (Pelkin, Ill.) marker 2:11 into the final period provided an insurance goal and closed out the scoring. Johnson & Wales grabbed a 1-0 edge just 5:51 into the contest on a tally by sophomore Tyler Crowder (Grand Rapids, Mich.), but the host Rams (7-10-2, 3-4-1 ECAC Northeast) took their 2-1 lead after 20 minutes of play with a pair of markers that came just 24 seconds apart late in the period off the sticks of senior Jeff Spencer (Brentwood, N.H.) and freshman Andrew Flynn (Stamford, Conn.), setting up Ketts' second period heroics.

Kaebel finished with a goal and an assist in the triumpfh for Johnson & Wales, which also received a pair of helpers off the stick of sophomore Johannes Hertzberg (Stockholm, Sweden) as well as single assists from junior Craig Houle (Burrillville, R.I.), sophomore Domenic Recchia (Sterling Heights, Mich.) and freshman Adam Bolotin (Vernon Hills, Ill.). Seniors Pat Welch (Dorchester, Mass.), Niles Moore (Columbus, Ohio) and Nick Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) notched assists in the setback for Suffolk, which also received a helper off the stick of freshman Robbie Donahue (West Bridgewater, Mass.).

Freshman Matt Cooper (Perrysburg, Ohio) picked up the win in goal for Johnson & Wales with a 29-save effort, while junior Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) made 34 stops in net for Suffolk as the Wildcats outshot the Rams by a 38-31 margin for the contest.

Suffolk travels to Newport, R.I. on Wednesday evening to take on Salve Regina in an ECAC Northeast outing that begins at 7:15 p.m., while Johnson & Wales hosts Wentworth in an ECAC Northeast
