Jeff Rose Named ECAC Northeast Goalie of the Year

Boston, Mass. - Suffolk University Hockey junior goaltender Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn./Valley (EJHL)) was named Goalie of the Year by the ECAC Northeast Hockey League. Rose was also a first team All-ECAC Northeast Conference selection.

Rose finishes 2009-10 with one of the best statistical seasons ever put together by a Suffolk netminder. His .919 save percentage and 2.68 goals against average are the best in Suffolk program history, while his 11 victories in goal are the second most ever. Rose set the previous record with 13 wins in 2007-08 during his freshman campaign.

Rose finishes the year ranked second in the league in save percentage, fifth in goals against average and fourth in winning percentage (.568) with an overall record of 11-8-3. Rose was named ECAC Goalie of the Week consecutively during the final three weeks of the season, and once before on January 4. That week Rose was also named Cod Fish Bowl Tournament Most Valuable Player. During the two-day tournament Rose stopped 83 of the 87 shots he faced, including a 52 save effort in the Championship Game, a 2-1 victory over host UMass.-Boston.

"We are very proud of Jeff's accomplishments and recognition this past season. He has been a tremendous leader for our team both on and off the ice, both in practice and in games. Every night he gave our team an opportunity to win with his play, and his efforts and leadership skills made us a better team overall," said Suffolk Hockey Head Coach Chris Glionna.

Rose also served as an Assistant Captain for the Rams this past season.

In his three seasons with the Rams, Rose has appeared in 70 games for Suffolk with a record of 31-31-6. The Rams' netminder has a goals against average of 3.03 in that span with a save percentage of .911 while posting three career shutouts.
