Box Score

Milton, Mass. - The Suffolk University Hockey team (8-10-3, 4-4-2 ECAC Northeast) pulled off a major upset defeating 17th-ranked Curry College (14-6-1, 7-1-1 ECAC Northeast), 3-2 in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Pat Welch (Dorchester, Mass.) scored the game-winner, his second of the game, just fifty-five second into the extra period to give the Rams the victory. Welch took feeds from sophomore defenseman J. Andrew Wein (Barnegat, N.J.) and freshman Andrew Flynn (Stamford, Conn.) for his first game-winning goal of the 2009-10 campaign.

The Rams jumped out to the early 1-0 late in the opening period as Welch tallied his first goal of the game on a Suffolk power play with 1:15 remaining in the first. Junior Zach Barron (St. Louis, Mo.) and Wein had assists on the goal.

Curry would answer in the second period scoring both of the goals in the game's second frame. Freshman Michael Cenisio (Chadds Ford, Penn.) would even up the score just twenty-two seconds into the period putting home his first goal of the season. The Colonels would go up 2-1 four minutes later as freshman Connor Hendry (Calgary, Alberta) netter his seventh goal of the year with the extra attacker.

Curry was busy in the third period outshooting the Rams 18-6 in the final twenty minutes of regulation, but junior goaltender Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) would stop every shot he faced, and the Rams got the game-tying goal early from freshman Matt Robertson (Whitman, Mass.) four minutes into the third. It was Robertson's fourth goal of the season.

Rose (7-7-3) stopped forty shots to pick up his seventh victory of the season between the pipes for Suffolk.

Curry out shot Suffolk 42-21 in the game.

Suffolk and Curry tied 2-2 in their previous meeting this season on December 2nd.

Curry's next game is away at Nichols on Wednesday at 7:00pm. Suffolk is back on the ice this Thursday as they host # 13 Wentworth at 7:00pm at Walter Brown Arena.
