Hockey Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

The Suffolk University Hockey team (11-10-3, 7-4-2 ECAC Northeast) inched closer to securing a first round home playoff game picking up their fourth win in a row topping the Becker College Hawks, 3-2 in ECAC Northeast Hockey action on Wednesday evening.

Freshman Robbie Donahue (West Bridgewater, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal 11:39 into the third period for what proved to be the game-winner.

Junior Paul Weisser (Longmeadow, Mass.) got the Rams on the board in the first period converting on a power-play for his seventh goal of the year, and fourth in as many games to even the game at 1-1. Weisser converted on feeds from junior Zach Barron (St. Louis, Mo.) and senior Pat Welch (Dorchester, Mass.).

Senior Niles Moore (Columbus, Ohio)scored his team-leading 13th goal of the season early in the second period to give the Rams a 2-1 edge.

Becker jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Robert Johnson put home his 9th goal of the season seven minutes into the first period. Jim Ceglarek scored the Hawks second goal of the game on a power-play with a little more than five minutes remaining in regulation but junior goaltender Jeff Rose (Collinsville, Conn.) would not relent between the pipes earning his tenth victory of the season.

Rose finished the game making 26 saves for the Rams.

Welch finished the game with two assists for Suffolk.

Suffolk will conclude the 2009-10 regular season on Sunday evening as they host the Western New England College Golden Bears. Faceoff is scheduled for 6:20pm at Steriti Memorial Rink in Boston's North End.
