BOSTON, Mass.-- Junior Zachary Cantin (Saugus, Mass.) netted a
hat trick, while freshman Bill Harris (Weymouth, Mass.) added a
pair of goals as Stonehill held off a late rally to post an 8-5
ECAC Northeast ice hockey victory over Suffolk Saturday evening at
Walter Brown Arena.
Harris and Cantin combined for three tallies in the opening period
of play to give the visiting Skyhawks (4-7, 3-7 ECAC Northeast) a
3-1 edge after 20 minutes of action, and after senior Dan Pencinger
(Randolph, N.J.) sliced that margin in half with a goal for the
host Rams (4-12-2, 3-6-2 ECAC Northeast) 2:15 into the middle
period, markers off the sticks of Cantin and seniors James
Florentino (West Roxbury, Mass.) and Paul Reissfelder (Plymouth,
Mass.) extended Stonehill's advantage to 6-2 after two. Senior John
Rocchio (East Greenwich, R.I.) helped lead Suffolk's comeback in
the final period by sandwiching a pair of goals around a tally by
sophomore Tom Coulstring (Whitman, Mass.) that cut the Rams'
deficit to one at 6-5 with 4:17 to play, but senior Frank Amato's
(West Springfield, Mass.) goal just 51 seconds later extended the
Skyhawk lead to 7-5, and Cantin capped his hat trick with an
empty-netter with 52 seconds remaining to account for the final
score.
Reissfelder finished with a goal and a pair of assists for three
points in the win for Stonehill, which also received three assists
each off the sticks of O'Brien and junior Chris Rogers (Westford,
Mass.). Junior Peter Roundy (Simsbury, Conn.) and freshman Jordan
Fine (Walpole, Mass.) each registered a pair of helpers for the
Skyhawks, who received single assists from senior David
Schermerhorn (Norwich, Conn.) and freshman Andrew Diozzi (Belmont,
Mass.). Rocchio added an assist to his two goals for a three-point
performance in the setback for Suffolk, which also received a goal
and an assist each from Pencinger and junior Niles Moore (Columbus,
Ohio). Senior Kyle Cook (Chino Hills, Calif.) notched a pair of
helpers for the Rams, who also received single assists off the
sticks of juniors Pat Welch (Dorchester, Mass.) and Joe Drago
(Waltham, Mass.) as well as freshman J. Andrew Wein (Barnegat,
N.J.).
Sophomore Mike Manna (Framingham, Mass.) picked up the win in goal
for Stonehill with a 28-save effort, while junior Bill Gilbert
(Forestdale, Mass.) made 29 stops in net for Suffolk as the
Skyhawks outshot the Rams by a 37-33 margin for the contest.

Walter Brown Arena beginning at 7:15 p.m., while Stonehill hosts
