Portland, ME -- The Suffolk University Men’s Hockey team
dropped a non-conference match up to the University of Southern
Maine 3-1 on Tuesday evening.
Senior forward Kyle
Cook (Chino Hill, CA) scored Suffolk’s lone goal 6:12
into the second period. Cook’s sixth goal of the season came
on a power-play. Senior John Rocchio (East
Greenwich, RI) had an assist on the play.
The Huskies jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on Dan Gordon’s
eight goal of the season two minutes into the opening period.
Gordon (Lynnfield, MA) added another goal with 4:39 remaining
in the second period for the game winner. Southern Maine added
another goal just a minute later converting on a power-play when
Pat Noonan (Burlington, MA) put home his 4th goal of the
season to make the score 3-1. Dan Rautenberg (Cape Elizabeth,
ME) added 2 assists for Southern Maine who move to 7-6 on the
season. The loss drops the Rams to 3-9.
Bill Gilbert (1-2)
made 41 saves in net for the Rams in the loss. Koray Celik (3-2)
stopped 18 of the 17 shots he faced on the night.
The Rams are in action again Thursday night as they travel to
Buffone Rink in Worcester, MA to take on Assumption College (2-9-2,
1-4-1 ECAC) in an ECAC Northeast match up. Game time is 7:30 pm.
