Box Score

Boston, MA -- The Suffolk University Hockey team lost the opening game in the Cod Fish Bowl Tournament 5-2 to Fitchburg State College, Monday afternoon at UMass-Boston.

The Rams fell behind early giving up two goals in the first period before a power outage delayed the game for nearly two hours. Fitchburg State's Thomas McAleer (East Islip, NY) answered twelve minutes later when he poked in a loose puck in front of the net for what turned out to be the game winner. It was McAleer's second goal of the game and third on the season. McAleer also added an assist on Kris Threkeld's goal to finish the game with three points.

Suffolk added a power-play goal late in the third for their second score. Junior Niles Moore (Columbus, OH) scored his third goal on the season on a rebound in front of the net.

Sophomore goaltender Jeff Rose (Collinsville, CT) made 39 saves in the loss. Robert Vorse (Leominster, MA) made 22 saves for Fitchburg State to pick up his third victory on the year. The Falcons now move to 5-3 on the season, while the Rams fall to 2-8.
