Worcester, MA -- The Suffolk University Rams (3-9-1, 2-3-1 ECAC) skated to a 4-4 tie with the Assumption College Greyhounds (2-9-3, 1-4-2 ECAC) in a back and forth game Thursday evening at Buffone Rink in Worcester, MA.

Mitch Sabo (Bell Canyon, CA) got the scoring started with the first of his two power play goals at 11:39 in the first period. J. Andrew Wein (Barnegat, NJ) and John Rocchio (East Greenwich, RI) had assists on the goal, it was Sabo’s third of the season. Sabo scored again on a power play five minutes later to put the Rams up 2-0 on a feed from Zach Scienzo (Concord, NH).

The Greyhounds got on the board with a 1:35 remaining in the first period when freshman Kevin Glanzman (Massapequa, NY) scored his first collegiate goal. With only twelve seconds remaining in the second period, Assumption College tied up the game at 2-2 when sophomore Marc Labb (Longmeadow, MA) converted on a power play for his second goal of the year.

Both teams came out quick in the third period, each scoring within the first minute of play. Assumption’s Pat O’Kane (Hollis, NH) put home his 7th goal of the season to put the Greyhounds up 3-2, but newly added Pat Welch (Dorchester, MA) answered just :16 later to even up the score.

Assumption scored again on a power-play when Taylor Larsen (Blackstone, MA) beat Rams’ goaltender Jeff Rose (Collinsville, CT) to put the Greyhounds ahead by a goal.

Senior Kyle Cook (Chino Hills, CA) helped pull the Rams from defeat as he scored a shorthanded goal with just :37 remaining in regulation for the game tying goal. It was Cook’s team leading 7th goal on the season. It was Suffolk’s first shorthanded goal as a team on the season.

The Rams out shot the Greyhounds six to four in the extra period but were unable to beat Assumption goaltender David Pinkham (Malden, MA). Pinkham (1-0-1) made 21 saves on the night, while Rose (2-7-1) stopped 30 of 34 shots he faced.

The Rams are on the road back out to Worcester again this weekend, as they travel to Becker College to take on the Hawks. Becker defeated Suffolk 3-1 when the two teams met earlier in the season in the Dunkin Donuts Tournament to open the season. Game time is at 6:45 pm.
