Ed McMellen was named head golf coach for the 2003 season and enters his 19th season in 2021-21.

In McMellen's tenure, Suffolk has garnered four All-GNAC honorees -- Owen Boggini (2018), Tim Benedetto (2014), Luke Ferrari (2013) and Joe Surace (2012) -- with a handful of top showings on the conference championship course.

Suffolk saw great success in 2019. First with a fifth-place performance at its last GNAC Tournament, before turning in a sixth-place showing at the NEIGA Championships, the highest team card in the Rams' record books. Individually, Owen Boggini highlighted the blue-and-gold at the regional tournament as the first-ever known Suffolk individual to pick up All-NEIGA honors behind a 12th-place finish.

McMellen guided the Rams into a new era in 2020-21 as Suffolk shifted to compete in the CCC. On the first championship course, a two-day event at the Beverly Golf & Tennis Club, the blue-and-gold finished seventh in the eight-team field. Individually, Pablo Bedoya Montero garnered All-CCC second-team accolades.
