BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk men's golf's Michael Gallagher was selected as Conference of New England's (CNE) Rookie of the Week after his efforts at the Gillette Ridge Invitational over the weekend.
Gallagher was hot from the start as the freshman from Novi, Michigan paced Suffolk on day one of at the Gillette Ridge Golf Club. He shot a 74(+2) in his collegiate debut, good for a share of 6th in the 56-golfer field. On day two, he carded an 83 (+11) to finish the two-day event in a share of 14th with teammate Vijay Sakuru.
Gallagher's first weekly award marks the first for the Rams since Ryan Mollica collected the conference's best rookie over a seven-day stretch Sept. 5, 2023.
Suffolk returns to action this weekend, Sept. 28-29, at the Bowdoin Invitational at the Brunswick Golf Club in Brunswick, Maine.
