
BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – Suffolk men's golf holds second place after the first 18 holes at the Gillette Ridge Invitational hosted by Hartford at the Gillette Ridge Golf Club.
The Rams combined for a 309 (+21) to slide into second in the 10-team field. Suffolk's Conference of New England (CNE) counterpart Roger Williams leads the way with a 295 (+7). The blue-and-gold's other conference foes Hartford (312), Gordon (328) and Wentworth (347) hold fourth, sixth and 10th, respectively.
Michael Gallagher paced Suffolk on day one. The Rams' freshman shot a 74 (+2) in his collegiate debut, good for a share of 6th in the 56 golfer field.
Senior Jake Zirlin holds 10th with a 76 (+4), while Vijay Sakuru was three strokes (+7) behind his co-captain to sit in 14th.
Christopher Sinopoli shares 18th with an 80 (+8) and Ryan Mollica rounds out the Rams on the course in 32nd with an 84 (+12).
Suffolk aims to improve upon its day one scores to upstage the Hawks on day two of action, Sunday, Sept. 22.
