BEVERLY, Mass. – Suffolk men's golf's Ryan Mollica earned Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week after his performance in the season debut, a head-to-head match with league foe Wentworth.
Mollica a freshman from Fairfield, Connecticut competed for the first time in his collegiate career Friday, Sept. 1 at the George Wright Golf Club. He carded an 87 to take a top-10 spot in the outing where the Rams defeated the Leopards, 319-339.
The weekly award is a first in the Ken DiMaggio era, while Mollica became the first Ram to pick up the feat since Mauro Stancheiri received the best rookie of the week recognition Oct. 12, 2021. Overall, it is the third rookie of the week accolade in the CCC era in program history. Stanchieri owns the other two, both of which were handed out in 2021-22.
Mollica and the Rams return to action this weekend when they head to Middlebury, Vermont, for the two-day Duke Nelson Invitational, at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course Sept. 9-10.
