Men’s Golf Picked Sixth in GNAC Championship Poll

GNAC RELEASE

BOSTON – On the edge of the 2017 GNAC Tournament, the conference released the championship coaches' poll with the Suffolk men's golf team selected sixth by a vote of the league's nine head coaches.

The Rams picked up 36 points to finish ahead of Worcester State (35), Emmanuel (17) and Albertus Magnus (12). The five-time GNAC Champion Rhode Island College is once again favored to win the conference title with six of a possible nine first-place votes and 78 points overall in the poll, while Johnson & Wales (65) and Saint Joseph's (Maine) (56) rounded out the top three. The Wildcats and the Monks both grabbed one first-place nod.

Southern Maine (54) and UMass Dartmouth (52) finished ahead of the Rams in fourth and fifth with the Huskies grabbing one first-place nod, respectively.

Suffolk has taken the links three times this season and earned a win at the Emmanuel Invitational Sept. 27.

The experience of senior Patrick Hennessy, junior Stephen Ferrante and sophomore Owen Boggini headline the Rams. Joining the veterans are newcomers William Bannon and Alex Sarkis.

The conference crown will be up for grabs Oct. 14-15 at the Valley Country Club in Warwick, Rhode Island.
