Gibbons, Pepdjonovic Lead Rams to Best Start in Ten Years

Boston, MA - Suffolk University Men's Basketball players Mike Gibbons (Ringwood, NJ) and Matt Pepdjonovic (Quincy, MA) earned recognition by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) as they helped lead the Rams to their first 3-0 regular season start since the 1999-2000 season.

Gibbons, was named GNAC Player of the Week. In three games the sharp shooting guard averaged 18 points per game. Gibbons had a career day on Saturday scoring a career-best 35 points as the Rams topped UMaine Presque-Isle 103-82. Gibbons connected on nine 3-pointers in the game, one shy of the Suffolk program record of ten set by Mike Vieira. Gibbons finished the week going 15-for-38 from the field, connecting on 13 field goals from beyond the arc in the three games. In his freshman campaign, Gibbons connected on 79 3-point field goals in 25 games for the season. Gibbons also added 11 assists on the week. For his efforts Gibbons was also named to the New England College Invitational All-Tournament team.

Pepdjonovic finished up a monster week averaging 17.7 points per game and 12.7 rebounds per game to earn Rookie of the Week honors. The 6'6 freshman has been dominate inside the paint to start the season and has given the Rams a presence down low they strongly desired. In his first collegiate game, Pepdjonovic finished with 13 points and 17 rebounds to help defeat Eastern Nazarene College on Tuesday, 71-58. Pepdjonovic would follow that game up on Saturday with a 23-point, 15-rebound effort in the Rams win over UMaine Presque-Isle. Pepdjonovic along with Gibbons was alsonamed to the NEC All-Tournament team.

The Rams will be back in action on Tuesday evening in their home opener as they host Salve Regina at 7:30pm at the Regan Gymnasium.
