Adam Nelson enters his 10th season as Head Coach of the Suffolk University Men’s Basketball team.

Nelson is just the fourth coach in Suffolk’s 68 year program history. He has coached four of Suffolk’s top 11 scorers in program history, including Matt Pepdjonovic who broke Suffolk’s all time rebounding record and was just the second player in program history to score 1,000 points and record 1,000 career rebounds. A total of 11 players under Nelson’s direction have earned All-Conference recognition by the GNAC and Brian Small became the lone student-athlete in Suffolk University history to earn Academic All-America honors by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

The 2014-15 season will mark the 15th season Nelson has spent as a collegiate head basketball coach. He previously worked at Becker College for three years before a two year stint at Newbury College.

Nelson began his career in college basketball as a student, first at the University of South Carolina (1992– 1994) and then Boston College (1994– 1996). Nelson worked for 1993 National Coach of the Year Eddie Fogler while at South Carolina, and 1999 National Coach of the Year Jim O’Brien at Boston College. In 1996, Nelson was named Assistant Coach, and later promoted to Associate Head Coach at Curry College. After a two year stint at Curry, Coach Nelson moved on to become a Division I Assistant at Holy Cross, and later Northeastern University.

Nelson has gained great visibility over the past few years in Boston media circles, as he has served as a guest analyst for both the NCAA Basketball Championship and the NBA Finals for New England Cable News (NECN). Nelson has made regular appearances on “Good Morning Live”, breaking down the brackets during NCAA "March Madness", as well as providing analysis during the Celtics run to the NBA Championship in 2007-2008. He also joined former WEEI Sports Host Ted Sarandis during last year’s GNAC Championship game as a color commentator.

Nelson and his wife Deb live in West Quincy, Mass. with their four children AJ, Jack, Mollie, and Cooper.
