Men’s Basketball Fights by Gordon for Fifth Straight, 74-56

WENHAM, Mass. – Suffolk men's basketball ran its win streak to five games Wednesday night when it defeated Gordon, 74-56, in Conference of New England (CNE) play at the Bennett Center.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 74 | Gordon 56
RECORDS: Suffolk (14-6, 10-3) | Gordon (8-12, 4-9 CNE)

HOW IT HAPPENED
After nine lead exchanges and five tied scores, hoops from Danny Yardemian and Jake Gomez sent Suffolk ahead 27-23 with 3:46 left in the first half.

The teams traded hoops over the next minute before the Rams went on a 9-2 half-ending run to go into the locker room up 38-30. Keenan Robertson, Yardemian and Jake Gomez supplied two points apiece to the rally that saw Nick Verdile hit his second triple of the night.

The Fighting Scots fought back and cut the blue-and-gold's lead down to five, 55-50, at the midway point of the second stanza.

That five-point margin remained until Verdile and Robertson coupled back-to-back buckets to push the advantage to nine, 61-52, which forced Gordon to take a timeout with 6:37 left on the clock.

Out of the huddle, the Rams poured in seven unanswered to lengthen their lead to 68-52 with just under five minutes remaining in regulation.

Gordon used its second time in two minutes to try to gain composure and make one last comeback attempt.

Suffolk limited the host to just four points the rest of the way to lock up the crucial CNE victory, 74-56.
