Roger Williams Shoots Past Men’s Basketball, 83-59

BRISTOL, R.I. – Suffolk men's basketball suffered its first Conference of New England (CNE) loss of the season as Roger Williams knocked down the Rams, 83-59, Saturday afternoon at the Hawks' Campus Rec Center.

THE BASICS
SCORE: Suffolk 59 | Roger Williams 83
RECORDS: Suffolk (6-5, 3-1 CNE) | Roger Williams (8-4, 3-1 CNE)

HOW IT HAPPENED
A game of runs over the first 20 minutes fell in Roger Williams favor as Suffolk went scoreless for a 7:30-span, which allowed the Hawks to build a 19-point, 33-14 cushion with just under eight minutes to play before halftime.

Jake Gomez ended the scoring lull for the Rams with a layup at the 7:08 mark. From there, the blue-and-gold managed to cut the deficit down to 11 as RWU went without a point for over 4:30.

Nate Lopez got the Hawks offense going again with a turnaround jumper in the paint as the buzzer sounded to send Suffolk into the locker room down 13, 40-27.

The Rams attempted to play catchup out of the locker room and sliced the deficit down to 11.

Scoring draughts factored into the action once again as the Rams were unable to connect on a hoop for three minutes and the Hawks went on an 11-0 run to build a 23-point cushion, 59-36 with 11:36 to play in regulation.

Hoop-for-hoop action closed this out and the distance proved too much for the blue-and-gold to make up.
