NEW LONDON, N.H. – Suffolk men's basketball bounced back in convincing fashion Friday night as the Rams rolled past Colby Sawyer, 79-63, at Hogan Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk poured in the first 10 points of the contest in the first four minutes. 

The Rams kept their foot on the gas pedal as they lengthened that lead to 20, 29-9, with 7:33 to go in the first. 

It was cruise control from there for the blue-and-gold as it coasted into halftime up 41-25. 

Out of the locker room, Suffolk continued to keep its offensive grove going to build a 22-point cushion, 55-34, with eight minutes removed from the second half. 

The Chargers got a little run going out of a Rams' timeout. Colby Sawyer coupled six points together to cut the deficit down to 14, 55-40, at the midway point. 

Suffolk restored the 20-point margin and pushed it to as many as 23-twice. 

Colby Sawyer made one final push over the final two minutes. Luckily the Rams early advantage paid off for the blue-and-gold to take the 79-63 victory.  

STATISTICALLY SPEAKING

  • Keenan Robertson anchored Suffolk's scoring unit with 21 points. He shot 80 percent (8-10) on the night including a 2-for-2 effort from downtown and a75.0 (3-4) connection rate from the free throw line. The senior added five rebounds, three steals, one block and one assist. 
  • Danny Yardemian supplied 14 points, two caroms, one helper and one steal. He shot 50 percent (4-8) from the field and did not miss at the line, 6-for-6. 
  • Jake Gomez compiled a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double with two dimes. 
  • Nick Verdile was on the verge of double figures with nine points on three buckets from behind-the-arc. The sophomore also chipped in three assists, two caroms and one takeaway. 
  • Suffolk commanded the glass, outrebounding the Chargers, 41-16. 

NOTEWORTHY

  • The Rams are 3-1 through the first four games of a campaign for the sixth straight season.
  • Suffolk moved to 6-3 all-time against Colby Sawyer. 
  • The Rams defeated the Chargers for the fifth straight meeting. 
  • The Rams are unbeaten, 5-0, against Colby Sawyer under Jeff Juron's guidance. 
  • On the road, Suffolk moved to 3-2 versus the Chargers. 
  • Robertson has put up 20-plus points in every game this season. He has now dropped 20 or more points in five consecutive contests dating back to last season's conference championship contest, Feb. 24, 2024.  
  • Gomez notched his first double-double of the season, third of his collegiate career, first since Feb. 17, 2024 against Curry. 
  • Gomez matched a personal-best 10 boards. 
  • Greg Keane had a career-high in points (4) and field goals made (2).
  • Connor Strickland had the first points of his Suffolk career. The junior also tied a career-high two rebounds.

Suffolk continues its road trip Tuesday, Nov. 26 when it walks across the Boston Commons to take on Emerson. The pre-Thanksgiving, Beantown battle is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off.
