BOSTON – Suffolk men's basketball will be led by a quartet of upperclassmen in 2024-25 as head coach Jeff Juron announced that graduate student Danny Yardemian and seniors Jake Gomez, Cole LeVangie and Keenan Robertson will all captain the Rams this season.
The foursome are the first captains for Suffolk's squad since 2022-23 when Connor Creane, William Rowe and Aidan Sullivan shared the role. Overall, it is the first group of four student-athletes in the captain role since 2021-22 when Nate Hale, Creane, Rowe and Sullivan shared the role. The group will all begin their first terms as captain.
The quartet was instrumental to Suffolk's success a year ago in which the Rams played their way to the conference championship contest and finished as the league's runner-up.
Robertson, an all-league first-team selection from last season, led Suffolk on both sides of the hardwood with team-best 17.4 points per game behind a 51.3 conversation rate from the floor to go along with a squad-high 6.6 rebounds per contest. The Rochester, New York native is the four-ever Suffolk student-athlete to be tabbed a conference's first-team honoree twice, first since John Murphy in 2005-07.
Yardemian, who brought his talents to Beacon Hill from Bentley last season, was a dominant floor general with a 1.58 assist to turnover ratio to go along with 3.2 assists per outing. The graduate student also had a knack for getting in the passing lanes with 2.07 steals per game. Scoring wise, the Belmont, Massachusetts, native added 14.4 points per game to go along with the second-most rebounds per contest on the Rams roster of 5.3.
LeVangie has been a threat from downtown since joining Suffolk's squad in 2021-22. A year ago he averaged close to two triples per game on a 40.3 shooting percentage from behind-the-arc to average 8.3 points per game. Defensively he brought down 5.0 rebounds per game.
Gomez completes the group. The forward from Boston, Massachusetts had a career season with 7.1 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game in 27 games played, 26 starts.
Behind the four-member leadership group, Suffolk lifts the lid on its 2024-25 schedule Saturday, Nov. 9 when Maine Farmington stops by Larry E. and Michael S. Smith Court for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off.
