
WENHAM, Mass. – Suffolk men's basketball collected a Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over the weekend as the Rams took down Gordon, 64-61, Saturday at Kanas Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Suffolk built an 8-2 edge in the first four minutes of action. Over the next four minutes, the Fighting Scots slowly chipped away at the Rams advantage and made it a one-point game, 10-9.
A Garrett Sattazahn three pushed the host ahead, 12-10. Things remained tight and the score leveled at 17-all at the 8:20 mark, before Suffolk regained the lead, 20-19, behind a trey from Cole LeVangie.
Sattazahn and LeVangie traded hoops to flip the script back-and-forth, before Bryce Smith stepped up for the host and push them in front, 24-22, with 4:23 remaining in the first half.
From there, Gordon maintained its momentum to send Suffolk into the locker room chasing three points, 31-28.
The Fighting Scots extended its cushion to as many as seven, 42-35, with 15:58 to go.
Free throws helped the Rams stay in the hunt of a comeback before back-to-back treys from Conor Creane and LeVangie sent Suffolk ahead, 49-48, at the midway point of the second stanza.
After the scored locked at 51-all, the Rams scored nine straight to gain a 60-51 cushio0n with 4:30 left in regulation.
Gordon responded with seven points in a row to chip the distance down to two, 60-58, at the 1:45 mark.
A lay-up from William Rowe and freebies by Keenan Robertson locked up the 64-61 win for the blue-and-gold.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Robertson registered a 20-pont, five-rebound, one-steal effort. He shot 7-for-15 from the field.
- LeVangie logged 12 points on a 5-for-11 showing from the floor with four caroms, two handouts, one takeaway and one swat.
- Rowe recorded 11 points, seven boards, three dimes and two swats.
- John Gates added six points, six rebounds one block and one steal off the bench.
- Jake Gomez pitched in seven points, four boards and one handout.
- Creane had a well-balanced stat line of six points, four reboundsz, two takeaways and one assist.
- Suffolk shot just 35.7 percent (20-56) on the afternoon and connected on a 25.0 percent (7-28) of its 3-point attempts.
- The Fighting Scots outrebounded the Rams, 43-41.
- Both teams scored 20 points in the paint.
NOTEWORTHY
- Suffolk won its fourth straight game against Gordon to move to 14-7 all-time in the series versus the Fighting Scots.
- When playing on the road, the Rams are 6-0 against the Fighting Scots.
