BOSTON – Three members of the 2015-16 Suffolk men's basketball team have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, recognizing their excellence in the classroom throughout the year. Curtis Casella, Adam Chick and Caleb Unni, all recent graduates of the University, earned the honor for the first time.
Bolstered by this threesome, Suffolk turned on the engines at just the right time this season, winning four of its final six games, to make its fourth straight GNAC Tournament appearance.
Unni, a double major in management and marketing, finished his four-year career with a 3.942 cumulative grade-point average. Along with earning the NABC Honors Court accolade, he was a the co-recipient of the 2015-16 Charles Law Student-Athlete Award, the highest honor bestowed on a Suffolk student-athlete, and a three-time GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team member. His name is written across the Rams' annals as he became the 28th member of the blue-and-gold's 1,000-point club and is one of only 15 student-athletes to lace up in over 100 games throughout his career.
Joining Unni in the elite 100-plus game club is Chick. The marketing major, who held down a 3.382 grade-point average, served as President of Suffolk's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was recognized with the Charles Melanson Unsung Hero Award.
A pure shooter with a great mind for the game, Casella carried that knowledge and passion inside the classroom as he graduated with a degree in accounting in May with a 3.27 GPA.
To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must have been either a junior or senior academically and had maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. Suffolk's three student-athletes are the lone honorees across the GNAC.
