NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Thanks to a team-high 20 points from senior guard Marc Wilson, the Ablertus Magnus men's basketball team flew past Suffolk Wednesday night inside The Nest at the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center.  

With their third straight win, the Falcons improve to 12-3 on the year and 8-2 in league play, while the Rams suffered their sixth loss in a row to drop to 4-14 overall and 2-9 in conference tilts.  

Albertus Magnus blew open a tied game midway through the second half with a 13-3 spurt and never looked back. With the game knotted at 40 and just under 13 minutes left in regulation, AMC scored on five straight possessions capped by back-to-back three-pointers from the corner by Wilson to build a double-digit advantage.  

Over the final 10 minutes of action, the Falcons stretched their lead to as many as 19 to complete the season sweep of Suffolk. 

Down the stretch, the Rams cut the lead to eight with six minutes left courtesy of a jumper from senior guard Jake Meister, but the hosts would answered with a 7-0 run as freshmen Shontaey Lovell and Matt Hamilton made layups before junior transfer Grant Ellis jarred a trey to put the contest out of reach.  

After digging themselves a 5-0 deficit to start the contest, the guests would answer with a 9-0 run capped by a pair of Meister free throws to hold an early lead. The four-point edge would prove to be Suffolk's largest of the game.  

Back-and-forth the two squads would go through the remainder of the first half, with neither team holding an edger larger than two possessions. The Rams would score the final four points of the frame with Meister and junior forward Matt Duquette both scoring in the paint to enter the break trailing by two, 28-26.  

Wilson led the Falcon charge, topping the 20-point plateau for the third time this winter in conference play. He shot 7-of-15 from the field and canned all four of his attempts from the charity stripe. In his Falcon debut, Ellis poured in 14 points off the bench thanks to hitting four shots from beyond the arc. Lovell and sophomore forward Jacqhawn Walters were the other Falcons to score in double figures. Lovell recorded his league-high 11th double-double of the season with a 13-point, 10-rebound performance, while hitting 5-of-8 shots. Walters had a solid game n both ends of the floor, scoring 10 points and dishing out five assists to go along with four steals and eight rebounds. Freshman guard Med Fofana played one of his stringers games of the season off the bench, recorded a career-high five assists.  

Offensively, Duquette paced the Rams with a gram-high 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting. The 6-foot-6 forward also pulled down four rebounsd. Meister was the other Suffolk player to register double figures, scoring 13 points thanks to a perfect 6-of-6 showin from the foul line.  

After a slow start, both teams shot over 50 percent from the field in the second half. The Albertus Magnus bench outscored the Suffolk reserves, 26-7, and the Falcons out rebounded the Rams, 39-31. Three-point shooing was a factor in the tilt, as MAC hit 8-of-19 attempts from deep and Suffolk connected on just 4-of-17 .  

Suffolk returns to action Saturday, Jan. 30 as it visits Emmanuels for a 1 p.m. date.
